A person is being looked for after crews were called to a house fire on the Coromandel Peninsula this morning.
Two crews were sent to the blaze in Wharekaho, near Whitianga, at around 2.23am.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said one person was being looked for.
Firefighters were dampening down hotspots, and a fire investigator is due to arrive later today.
Police said an occupant raised the alarm and was being provded support.
"A scene guard remained in place overnight and police will be carrying out a scene examination at the house today, including working with fire investigators," Senior Sergeant Chris Painter said.
