A person has been charged after a man was critically injured in an incident in Hamilton Central on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Anglesea St, between Rostrevor and Liverpool streets, at around 2.45pm, police said.
Hato Hone St John said it responded with two ambulances and a rapid response unit.
A man was taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault, and threatening to kill. He was expected to appear in the Hamilton District Court today.
Police said cordons were in place at the intersection of Rostrevor and Anglesea streets, and at London and Anglesea streets, where a scene examination would be carried out.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
