As Labour's Dan Rosewarne began asking a question, ACT MP Simon Court raised a point of order.

Brownlee said: "This better be a good point of order and it better not contradict the... standing orders, when it comes to supplementary questions."

Court made his point, saying he understood a member had further supplementary questions that had not been addressed.

"Did you indeed? Well, you were robbed," Brownlee said, and continued proceedings.

But Seymour interrupted with his own point of order.

ACT Party leader David Seymour.

"Mr Speaker, members of this House have a right to raise a point of order without the kind of crap that he just got from you," Seymour said.

"Is that right?" Brownlee replied.

"[The] member will leave the house."

Seymour told reporters afterwards the Speaker was "obviously very grumpy".

"Everyone has a right to raise a point of order, and everyone has a right to be treated well. When someone stands up and says 'point of order' you say 'yes, what is it?', you don't give all of the commentary and crap that he just got from the Speaker," he said.

"I stand up for my members."

Seymour said he has confidence in the Speaker but "he's clearly having a bad day".
