Wellington councillor Ray Chung has resigned as the chairperson of a Wellington City Council subcommittee.

The council said on Monday that Chung was no longer the head of the Council Controlled Organisations Review and Appointments Subcommittee. He also stepped down from the subcommittee entirely.
Chung, a Wharangi/Onslow-Western General Ward councillor, said he wanted to focus his attention on his constituents.
Mayor Andrew Little said he accepted Chung’s resignation and expected to appoint a replacement “shortly”. A spokesperson from Little’s office declined to comment further.
The subcommittee is responsible for reviewing the performance of council-controlled organisations, such as the groups running the Basin Reserve, Zealandia wildlife sanctuary, Hnry Stadium and economic development agency WellingtonNZ.
