A company which ran two franchised Domino's stores has been banned from employing more migrant workers for 12 months after employing a worker in a way which breached their work visa.
The business, GBN Trading Limited, was also fined $3000 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of $1500.
Immigration investigations national manager Jason Perry said the employee's visa conditions allowed them to do administration work at Domino's Pukekohe in Auckland.
However, the worker was found to be working at Domino's Pokeno, Waikato.
"The employer knowingly employed someone in a way that did not meet the conditions specified on their work visa, and now they must face the consequences," said Perry.
"This shows that immigration breaches are taken seriously. Employers must follow their obligations, and if they don’t, our immigration infringement scheme has proven to be an effective tool in holding them to account."
The infringement scheme had been in place for two years, and in this time, more than 300 infringement notices had been issued, which totalled $1,000,000 in penalties, according to the agency.
More serious breaches could also result in criminal charges, it added.
