Search for missing woman Erika Coelho moves to recovery phase

Erika Rodrigues Coelho, 47, is a Brazilian national living in Queenstown. No one has seen or heard from her since September 18.

The search for missing woman Erika Coelho near Queenstown has moved to a recovery phase more than a month after she was last seen, police say.

The 47-year-old was last seen on Friday 18 September near Skippers Saddle.

"Extensive search efforts and enquiries so far have failed to locate Erika and police have moved to a recovery phase," Sergeant Terry Wood said.

"We understand this is a difficult time for Erika’s family and loved ones. Our thoughts are with them."

Erika Rodrigues Coelho was last seen on September 18.

As the new phase of the search begins, police have called in specialist search dog teams from Christchurch and Blenheim.

"They are specifically combing areas the team believe Erika would have most likely have travelled," Wood said.

Police still urged anyone with information that may help with the search to come foward and call 105.

"Any detail might help investigators understand what happened or where Erika went."
