Two men charged after person robbed, assaulted in Huntly

Two men have been charged after a person was injured following a robbery and assault in Huntly in May.

Police were called to Main St around 1.30am on Sunday, May 17 after a person was assaulted and had their mobile phone stolen.

"The victim received moderate injuries and was understandably very shaken by the incident," Detective Sergeant Rahul Badri said.

The pair were arrested after police carried out search warrants at two addresses in the Huntly area.

During the searches, Badri said police located most of the clothing allegedly worn by the men involved in the assault, as well as the victim's phone.

"I am pleased that we are able to hold these alleged offenders to account, and I hope this brings some closure to the victim and their loved ones," he said.

A 26-year-old man appeared in the Huntly District Court on Thursday charged with assault with intent to injure and theft from a person. He was due to reappear on September 24.

A 24-year-old man was due in the Huntly District Court on Tuesday charged with assault with intent to injure, theft from a person, and drug-related charges.

"I would like commend the efforts of all staff involved in this investigation, as well as thank those who responded to our earlier appeal for information."
