Dame Jools Topp, one half of comedic singing duo The Topp Twins, has died of breast cancer aged 68.

Dame Jools died peacefully at her home on Saturday with her twin sister Dame Lynda, brother Bruce, close friends and "all her fur-babies" by her side.

Competition was halted on the final day of the World Surf League's New Zealand Pro at Raglan after a photographer was bitten on the left foot by unidentified sea life.

WSL tours and competition vice president Renato Hickel confirmed photographer Ed Sloane had been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
