'Deeply distressing': Woman, two young children killed in Rotorua
A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman and two children were killed at a home in Rotorua last night.
Inspector Logan Marsh said emergency services were called to the address on High St in Glenholme shortly before 10.30pm. Two young children were dead, and a woman was found with life-threatening injuries.
"Despite extensive efforts by police and ambulance crews, the woman died at the scene," Marsh said.
Man allegedly punched Customs staff after 16.8kg of methamphetamine found at airport
A British man allegedly punched two Customs officers as he tried to flee an Auckland International Airport search area where staff had just uncovered an estimated 16.8kg of methamphetamine in his luggage.
The 24-year-old arrived on a flight from New York on Friday and was referred to Customs for a baggage check, where officers found an estimated 16.8kg of the Class A drug.
When officers directed him to stay, he allegedly punched one of them while attempting to run. He allegedly struck a second officer while staff were restraining him.
