As singing legend Stan Walker prepares to perform two rare concerts with a full orchestra (one per island), he invites the youth of New Zealand to tap into their creative talents and compete to join him on stage.

Walker’s new song (watch a snippet above) is about whānau, connection and identity. It's recently been released on a Disney album, Moana: Voices Across the Pacific, which brings together 25 artists from places spanning the Pacific from Australia to Hawaiʻi.

Next week Stan Walker invites tamariki and rangatahi around Aotearoa to get creative and make the song their own, as he launches the Family Tree School Challenge (see below for entry details).
Two schools – one from each island – will be selected to perform Family Tree live on stage with Walker as part of The Symphonic Experience in Auckland in October (tickets are sold out), and in Christchurch in November (tickets are selling fast).

Literally mine, to make sure it was correct.
What's something you’ll never understand?
Maths ahhaha.
What's a music memory that lives rent-free in your head?
Being able to perform before Beyoncé.
What do you bring when you 'bring a plate'?
A silverside and steamed veggies, or a roast.
What are the five elements of your perfect weekend?
Sleep, eat, TV series, cuddles with my whānau.
