Auckland boarding house landlord fined $44,000 for numerous breaches
A property used as a boarding house on Beach Rd in central Auckland was inspected as part of a nationwide initiative following the fire at Wellington's Loafers Lodge in 2023.
Inspectors identified "a range of issues", including a lack of suitable heaters installed.
The landlord, Beach Road Properties, was issued an improvement notice to address the issues, but failed to do so.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Bridge St shortly after 6.30am on Friday as the man and his loyal companion scrambled from the fire.
