Hastings residents have described their "shock" at a triple homicide investigation being launched in their otherwise "quiet" street.
Two children and a woman died at the property on Avenue Rd, while man who lived at the property was having surgery today.
When police arrived around 6am yesterday one person was found dead and the other other victims died in hospital.
No one else was being sought, and no charges had been laid at this stage, Detective Inspector Martin James said today.

As a team of 30 began work on the homicide investigation, residents of the street told 1News the area was typically seen as safe.
“It was a shock… this is a safe street and the people are lovely. We don’t have any drama… it’s very sad,” one resident said.
Another resident said: “Hopefully, they can find out why this has occurred. It’s a very quiet street but [we] didn’t hear a thing until we saw the actual cordon. [It’s] very sad to hear.
“My wishes go out to their family.”
