TVNZ+ is the new home of some of the country’s top podcasts, including the popular Between Two Beers long-form interview show.
From today users can access a range of homegrown podcasts, including Extremely Casual Gamers, Stand Up Again with Nick and Sophie Rado, What A Lad, Human in the Loop and Party Science.
TVNZ Chief News and Content Officer Nadia Tolich said the collaboration with Frank Podcasts was designed to empower Kiwi talent and open new distribution opportunities for the country’s best podcast creators.
“We’re especially thrilled to introduce the hugely successful Between Two Beers podcast to audiences in this format, showcasing local stories and voices and evolving how podcasts live within the wider TVNZ+ ecosystem,” she said.
Between Two Beers, fronted by best mates Steve Holloway and Seamus Marten, conducts long-ranging interviews with Kiwi newsmakers ranging from ex All Black Brad Thorne to comedian Te radar and NZ Warriors CEO Cameron George.
What began as a hobby in Steve’s garage six years ago is now a multi-award-winning podcast boasting over 6 million downloads and a monthly audience of more than 180,000 listeners.
New episodes will appear weekly on the TVNZ+ platform.
Frank Podcasts founder and head of innovation Mike Minogue said the collaboration with TVNZ was a “huge leap forward for podcasting in Aotearoa”.
“I’m really proud that Frank and TVNZ have been able to work together to create such a fantastic opportunity for both Kiwi podcasters and Kiwi audiences.”
