One dead after early-morning Napier house fire

One person has died in a house fire in Napier's Bay View this morning.

Emergency services were called to the fire on Main North Rd just after 5am.

Fire and Emergency sent two fire crews from Napier Fire Station and one from Bayview.

St John responded with two ambulances, which were later stood down.

Police confirmed a body had been located.

"Inquiries into the circumstances of the fire are ongoing, and the formal identification process is underway," police said.
