A homicide investigation has been launched after three people died following an incident at an address in Hastings early this morning.
Detective Inspector Martin James said emergency services were called to an address on Avenue Rd East around 6am following reports several people were seriously injured.
One person was found dead at the scene.
Three people were taken to Hastings Hospital, with two in a critical condition and another in a serious condition.
"Sadly, both critical parties have now also died," James said.
A scene examination will take place at the property today.
"Police appreciate this is a distressing incident that will no doubt be concerning to nearby residents," he said.
"I would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident, contained to this specific group of people, and there is no risk to the wider public."
St John confirmed it was notified of the incident and directed all further inquiries to police.
