A 19-year-old man has been summonsed to court over a fatal crash near Te Kūiti in July that killed a young mother.
Emergency services were called to State Highway 3 in Te Mapara on July 11 2025 at 11pm after a two-vehicle crash involving a vehicle that was towing a boat.
According to RNZ, New Plymouth 23-year-old Nateisha-Kurstyn Hana-Wetere was in the car with her three-year-old son when the boat and trailer detached from the vehicle – striking the car.
Hana-Wetere died in the crash, while others were injured.
Today, police said a 19-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
He was summonsed to appear in the Te Kūiti District Court on November 3.
