Two teenagers have been arrested and a revolver located following a vehicle stop in south Auckland last night.
Counties Manukau CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Tiernan said police inquiries were already underway after a "possible road rage incident" where a gun was allegedly fired towards another vehicle on Saturday.
He said just after 10.30pm yesterday officers received information relating to the vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident in Manurewa.
The vehicle of interest was seen travelling on Great South Rd before stopping on Wordsworth Rd, Tiernan said.
"An armed vehicle stop was conducted, and the occupants were taken into custody without issue.
"A search of the vehicle located a black revolver firearm inside."
Tiernan said "thankfully no one was injured, however we have been working hard to piece together who was involved and we’re pleased to have taken another firearm off the streets and put someone before the court".
An 18-year-old man will appear in Manukau District Court today charged with unlawful possession of a piston and unlawful possession of ammunition.
A 17-year-old has also been referred to Youth Aid Services.
