One person has died following a crash in which a vehicle hit a tree in Paremata near Wellington this afternoon.
Police say the single-vehicle crash occurred at 12.50pm, at the bottom of a steep driveway on a private property in Walker Avenue.
A second person is in a critical condition and was transported to Wellington Hospital by ambulance.
Members of the public performed CPR before paramedics arrived.
Police say the road will be blocked for some time while an investigation takes place.
