Two injured in Canterbury crash involving police car

Two people were injured in a crash involving a police car on State Highway 1 in Canterbury this morning.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on State Highway 1/Main South Road in Burnham and involved a police patrol car.

"An officer was conducting road policing activities," a police spokesperson said.

Two people suffered minor to moderate injuries and were seen by ambulance crews.

The serious crash unit was notified.

The section of highway was closed following the crash, with diversions in place from Thomsons Road and Norwood Road, going around Burnham School Road.

"Motorists are advised of delays and should avoid the area as emergency services work at the scene," police said.
