Gangs of opposing Lower Hutt school boys brawling on a public train station has led to two arrests and caused outrage among local commuters.
On Thursday, March 22, a large fist fight between boys from at least two Lower Hutt schools reared up on Waterloo train station around 4.30pm.
St Bernard's College principal Simon Stack confirmed to Stuff that five of his students were involved in the quarrel.
"We're appalled that any kid from this school got involved in that," Mr Stack said.
"It's against what we're about. Part of that is that we have to follow due process."
Mr Stack said the school was now investigating what possible disciplinary action was to be taken.
"The whole thing is just awful, that it happened, no-one condones this sort of stuff. It's just dreadful," he said.
"The good news from my point of view is that actually a huge amount of our kids just said, 'Nah, we're not going to be part of that'".
CCTV footage of the incident is being reviewed by authorities.
"Police have visited the schools with students involved and are grateful for their co-operation. Inquiries are ongoing into the incident," Lower Hutt Police said.
