An expired WoF has led to the arrest of two men in Auckland after air guns, meth, and cash were found in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Police pulled over the Honda CRV on Stoddard Road in Mt Roskill just before 6pm yesterday after checks indicated it had an expired warrant of fitness and an out-of-date rego.

“On approaching the vehicle, a rifle was seen on the back seat of the car," Sergeant Mike Read said.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found an air pistol in the driver's footwell.

“Both the driver and passenger were detained on the roadside,” Read said.

Packaged methamphetamine was found on the driver and inside the vehicle during a further search, alongside nearly $2000 in cash.

Police confirmed the two guns were an air rifle and an air pistol.

The 38-year-old was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of the air rifle and pistol, possession for supply of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine utensils.

The 27-year-old passenger was charged with possession for supply of methamphetamine.

Both will appear in the Auckland District Court today.

“This is a fantastic result from our team, with these illicit and dangerous items now out of circulation in our community.”
