A homicide investigation has been launched after a man died in the Auckland suburb of Glen Innes this afternoon, with one person taken into custody.
Emergency services were called to Sunnymead Rd at around 2.45pm following reports a person had been critically injured.
Acting Detective Inspector Craig Bolton, of Auckland City CIB, said police officers quickly attended the scene.
"Sadly, despite best efforts by emergency services, a man was pronounced deceased at the scene," he said.
“One person was swiftly taken into custody and is assisting Police with enquiries.”
Police said there was not believed to be any risk to the wider public.

"A scene guard has been established and cordons remain in place while the homicide investigation continues," Bolton said.
Hato Hone St John said it responded to the incident on Sunnymead Rd with one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and one operations manager.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand also responded with one crew from St Heliers.
Footage from the scene showed the road cordoned off, with police and emergency crews present.

Bolton said police recognised the impact the incident would have on the community and support was being provided to the man's family and others in the area.
Police would carry out reassurance patrols over the coming days, with residents told to expect an increased police presence as the investigation continued.
