A police officer is facing a charge of doing an indecent act on a girl aged under 12.
Acting Waitematā District Commander Acting Superintendent Matt Laurenson confirmed an officer was currently before the court on a charge linked to alleged historical offending, which occurred off duty.
He faced a charge of doing an indecent act on a girl under 12.
The matter initially came to police attention in early 2025 and was investigated, resulting in the charge being filed in October that year.
The constable involved was currently stood down from duty while the court process remained ongoing.
