A fisherman has died after falling into the water off Ninety Mile Beach yesterday.
Police were called to Ninety Mile Beach, off Te Kao, around 1.20pm, where they were joined by Surf Lifesaving NZ and the Northland Emergency Services Trust helicopter.
The man was located and brought to shore, where CPR was administered.
Despite revival efforts, he could not be saved.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
