Tupperware's party back on in New Zealand as brand relaunches online

The kitchenware brand that packed generations of Kiwi school lunches is back, with Tupperware officially relaunching in New Zealand today under a new distributor after a four-year absence.

The brand ceased trading locally in 2022 when the pandemic disrupted its party-plan sales model, ending an almost 50-year run in New Zealand homes that began in the 1970s.

Tupperware is relaunching through a new e-commerce platform, with New Zealand retail partnerships to be announced in the coming months.

H.A.G. distributor's director of sales and head of product, Daniel Grundmann, said the return had been eagerly anticipated by consumers.

The brand ceased trading locally in 2022 when the pandemic disrupted its party-plan sales model, ending an almost 50-year run in New Zealand homes.

"For so many families, Tupperware isn't just food storage - it's memories. It's lunchboxes packed before school, leftovers after Sunday dinner, and products that have been passed down through generations," Grundmann said.

"We're incredibly proud to bring Tupperware back to New Zealand with the same quality, durability and iconic designs people remember, alongside products designed for the way we cook, store and live today."

The collection spans storage containers, bowls, meal-prep solutions and reusable drink bottles, all made BPA, PFAS, PFOA and PTFE free. It includes the Heritage line with its instantly recognisable sunburst lid and the Original all-purpose bowl, first introduced in 1946.

The relaunch coincides with Tupperware's 80th anniversary globally, marking the airtight seal created by Earl Tupper in the 1940s.
