Two charged over death of man found outside Lower Hutt property

A 25-year-old male has been arrested and charged with murder, while a 46-year-old female has been arrested for accessory after the fact to murder.

Two people have been charged over the death of a man outside a Lower Hutt property earlier this year.

Nathaniel Sturmey, 29, was found dead on the ground outside an address on Malone Rd at around 8am on April 29.

Last month, police appealed for sightings of a black 2010 Nissan Qashqai and a grey 2007 Audi A4 seen in the area at the time of Sturmey's death.

Police carried out several search warrants on Thursday morning with the assistance of the armed offenders squad in Moera and Stokes Valley.

A 25-year-old male has been arrested and charged with murder, while a 46-year-old female has been arrested for accessory after the fact to murder. The pair will appear in the Hutt Valley District Court today.

Detective Inspector Jamie Woods said further arrests and charges were likely as the investigation progressed, with scene examinations continuing and an increased police presence in the area.

"We would like to reassure the community that there is not anticipated to be any risk to the public and police will be conducting reassurance patrols and maintaining visibility within the wider area."

Anyone with relevant information should call 105, quoting reference number 260409/9927.

Hamilton arrest

Police also said today they had charged a man with murder over an unrelated death in Hamilton.

A 21-year-old is facing the charge after a person was found dead in Rototuna yesterday. They are due in court today.

"Police will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area in the coming days as a scene examination concludes," Detective Senior Sergeant Reece Durston said.

"The incident involved people known to one another and police is not looking for anyone else in relation to the matter.

"Police believe there is no risk to the public following this incident."
