Police investigating a homicide outside a Lower Hutt property have released the name of the person killed, and appealed for more information about any "suspicious" activity.
A homicide investigation was launched after a man was found dead on the ground outside an address on Malone Rd in Lower Hutt around 8am on April 9.
In an update today, Wellington police Detective Inspector Jamie Woods named the man as 29-year-old Nathaniel Sturmey.
"We acknowledge this is an incredibly difficult time for Mr Sturmey’s family and support is being provided," he said.
The investigation into the circumstances of Sturmey's death continued, and Woods said there would be an increased police presence in the Lower Hutt area.
He said the scene examination had been completed, and officers were working to understand Sturmey's movements in the hours before his death.
"Police are appealing to the public for information about the incident and are particularly interested in any suspicious activity in the Waterloo, Lower Hutt area between the hours of 10pm on April 8 and 3am April 9, 2026," Woods said.
