The dead victims were his parents, while his brother was injured.

Police found Govinden's brother, Andrew, injured in Birkdale on 28 July.

Govinden was arrested at the scene, and police conducted a welfare check on his parents Raman and Rooksana, who were soon found dead at their Glenfield home.

 Lingfield Street in Glenfield.

Justice Mathew Downs set out the charges.

"You are charged with murdering your parents and then attempting to murder your brother," he told Govinden, who appeared in person at Auckland's High Court.

"You will be tried in this court from 2 August next year, I'm setting aside three weeks for your trial."

Justice Downs ordered reports on Govinden's health.

"Because you are currently unwell I am going to remand you to a hospital or a secure facility rather than a prison," he said.
