Severe thunderstorm watch for Auckland, Northland and Waikato
Auckland Emergency Management has issued reminder to "stay alert" as a severe thunderstorm bears down on the upper North Island.
The severe thunderstorm watch, issued alongside other watches and warnings across the country, is in place in Auckland from 3pm to 8pm, which EMA notes is "just in time for school pickup and rush hour".

Insufficient clinical checking at a pharmacy was the primary cause of a dispensing error that led to the overdose and death of an eight-week-old infant last year, Medsafe has found.
The regulator today published its summary of findings as part of a broader system review into the July 2025 incident.
Huffer accused of using AI to recreate real models without permission
New Zealand clothing brand Huffer is facing growing scrutiny over allegations it used artificial intelligence to generate campaign images resembling former models – without their knowledge or consent.
The controversy was sparked by Auckland model Elijah Timmins-Scanlon, who posted a video to social media accusing the brand of using AI-generated figures that appeared to be based on himself and others who have previously worked with Huffer.

A small scorpion was recently found in the bathroom of Auckland food and travel writer Anna King Shahab by her husband.
