Person arrested after shooting in Auckland's Mount Wellington

Emergency services were called to the scene between Te Horeta Rd and Rowlands Ave just after 6.30am on Tuesday.

One person has been arrested after a man was shot in Auckland's Mount Wellington yesterday.

Armed police responded to the incident, with emergency services being called to the scene on Mount Wellington Highway between Te Horeta Rd and Rowlands Ave just after 6.30am Tuesday.

Hato Hone St John staff treated one patient and transported them to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

Senior Sergeant Michael Wickman said police had arrested one person after executing a search warrant at a property on Ireland Rd Tuesday night.

"As part of our inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, police have been investigating a person and vehicle of interest," Wickman said.

"Shortly before the search warrant was executed, a person has driven away from Ireland Rd and has subsequently been taken into custody in Pakuranga without issue.

Wickman thanked members of the public for their patience and said police would continue to investigate.
