Mariameno Kapa-Kingi is speaking to media following yesterday's announcement she is starting her own party.

The MP is creating the Te Tai Tokerau Party and breaking away from Te Pāti Māori. She plans on running in the Te Tai Tokerau electorate at the upcoming election.

It comes after a long period of party infighting, which saw a court reinstate her as a member of TPM.
