It's been twenty years between drinks, but Westlife are finally coming back to New Zealand.

And they kicked off their 25th anniversary celebrations with a spectacular medley of old favourites at the weekend on Britain's Got Talent.

"It's a real full circle moment," Nicky Byrne told Breakfast.

"Simon Cowell of course signed us in 1998, he had such an influential part of our career picking songs. When we sang My Love, he said 'guys, I think you should stand up off the stool for the key change'.

Shane Filan is thrilled to be heading to Auckland's Spark Arena on July 28 and Christchurch's Wolfbrooke Arena on July 30.

"We've been asking our management for 20 years to come back to New Zealand.

"We're so excited to be finally coming back. This tour, it feels like a dream come true to be honest. It's 25 years of memories, 25 years of hits and to get back to New Zealand, it's a big plus for us, we're very proud of that fact."

The band became a global phenomenon in the 2000s, selling 55 million records worldwide.

"We're getting to re-live our youth and all the Westlife fans out there that are coming to our shows, it's like they're all getting to re-live their youth," Kian Egan says.

"We have so many songs that may be from their first kiss, or who knows. For us all, it's all about reliving the memory of it all, the nostalgia of it all."

The morning's headlines in 90 seconds, including plans to get passengers home from a virus stricken cruise, and the rationale for ditching fees free uni. (Source: 1News)
