A man has been arrested after allegedly throwing rocks at and verbally abusing a family in Tauranga on Saturday.
Police were called to Dive Cres at around 3:15pm to reports of an assault and disorder.
Members of the public had subdued the offender as they awaited the arrival of police.
The 19-year-old man was taken into custody and will appear in Tauranga District Court charged with breach of bail, three counts of assault with weapon, assaults child, and three counts of wilful damage.
Police said they were grateful for the people who intervened to keep the family safe.
