Police were in the area when a fire broke out at a "property of interest" in Auckland's Massey this morning, in an incident that also saw a person bitten by a dog.
Officers were conducting inquiries on Colwill Rd, Massey when a fire broke out at a "property of interest" shortly before 5.30am.
Police called Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) to the address.
Fire and Emergency crews from Auckland City, Glen Eden, West Harbour, Te Atatū, and Henderson responded to the scene, where they found a two-storey building with the upper level ablaze.

The fire was contained by 6.40am and had since been extinguished, a FENZ spokesperson said.
Police said one person sustained a dog bite and was transported to hospital.
St John also responded, sending one ambulance.

"One patient was assessed at the scene by the crew and transported to Waitakere Hospital in a moderate condition."
Police said inquiries were ongoing.
