Dramatic video shows the moment two people were arrested at a prominent Auckland bar after a woman was allegedly abducted on Tuesday night.

The CCTV footage from Headquarters, a bar on Auckland's Viaduct owned by restaurateur Leo Molloy, showed four plain-clothed officers surrounding a man seated at a table.

Officers grabbed hold of the man before folding him over the table and handcuffing him. One of the officers appeared to be holding a handgun.

While this happened, a woman arrived on the scene and appeared to argue with officers.

She was also handcuffed, and the pair were taken out of the bar.

The arrests come after officers were called to Beach Haven on Auckland's North Shore on Tuesday evening after three people in a car arrived at a residential property on Sunnyhaven Ave.

A woman was allegedly forced into the vehicle, and a gun was fired.

Neighbours reported hearing "loud bangs" with armed officers swarming the area. A police helicopter was also deployed.

Two people are before the courts today, facing a series of charges following the incident.

A 32-year-old man from Dairy Flat is charged with kidnapping, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, commission of a crime using a firearm and burglary with a firearm.

A 28-year-old woman from Bayview was arrested in connection with outstanding warrants to arrest and will also appear in court on a charge of failing to carry out obligations relating to a computer search.

"What I can say is that we do not believe this was a random incident,” Waitematā Detective Inspector Callum McNeill said yesterday.

"To the Beach Haven community, you will continue to see our staff present in the area with reassurance patrolling and our staff working at the scene."

McNeill said the victim is continuing to recover from her injuries in hospital. She did not suffer gunshot wounds.

"She will have a long road to recovery, and we will be looking to speak further with her around what has occurred."
