Woolworths has recalled a popular breakfast cereal sold in supermarkets nationwide because it may contain pieces of blue plastic, urging shoppers not to eat it.
The recall, issued on Tuesday by Woolworths New Zealand Limited, covers Woolworths brand Multi Grain Cereal in 500g boxes with a best before date of 30/04/27, sold at Woolworths, Fresh Choice and SuperValue stores throughout New Zealand.
The affected cereal was also exported to the Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Malaysia, Niue and Samoa.
No other Woolworths brand products are affected by the recall.
Customers were asked to check the best before date on the box and to return any affected cereal to the retailer for a full refund. It should not be eaten.
There have been no reports of injury linked to the product. Anyone who ate the cereal and had concerns about their health was advised to seek medical advice.
Retailers who stocked the product were told to download and display a point-of-sale notice in-store for one month.
