A north Auckland high school says it is "very disappointed" after a car was driven onto its grounds, causing significant damage to the field and destroying bird nests.
Whangaparāoa College said in a post to Facebook a vehicle was driven onto the school grounds at around 10.25pm last Friday.
"Sadly, the damage wasn't just limited to the grounds. The vehicle was driven directly through an area where plovers were nesting, destroying eggs and impacting vulnerable newborn chicks," the post read.

The school said the incident was particularly frustrating because of the impact on local wildlife.
"It is deeply frustrating to see this kind of thoughtless behaviour on our campus. We are currently looking into this incident and gathering information."
