A man has been arrested following an alleged assault at an Auckland gym.
Police said the man was charged following the family harm incident.
A witness told NZ Herald they saw a man allegedly jump the security gate at Simplicity Fitness in Mount Wellington before attacking a woman.
Hato Hone St John was called to the gym at around 5.45pm, taking one person to hospital in a serious condition.
A 20-year-old man was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
A spokesperson for CityFitness, which operates the facility, confirmed there was a "recent incident" at one of its Auckland clubs.
"The health and safety of members and our staff is of paramount importance to us, and we are offering our full support to those affected," they said.
"Police are now investigating, and we are unable to make any further comment while they continue their inquiries."
