Known for her candid personality and honest advice, a Kiwi online influencer is now taking her motivational speaking from online to on the road.
Nicola Adams has amassed a huge following by sharing her experiences of addiction, homelessness and grief online.
"It lifted a huge burden off me, and I felt free and I want to be able to offer that to the rest of the world," Adams told TVNZ1's Te Karere.
Adams, known as Nix, is nearing a year since she started making videos on social media.
She says the main aim of making her online videos has always been to empower her followers.
"I never ever dreamed that sharing my story about drug addiction, about the loss of my son and prostitution … I never thought that would help thousands of people, but it did and so it also lifted a huge burden."
She says that people are very embarrassed to talk about important issues but says there’s healing in talking about these issues.
"There’s a lot of tapu subjects that leads to suicide and things like that because people don’t talk about it which means they don’t know how to get through these subjects.
"And my thing is, if it’s a part of life, if it is happening, why can’t we talk about it?"
Thirty-two towns will host Ms Adams as she tours the country and create space for people to share stories.
"That is the reason why I’m choosing to do this 'Inside New Zealand tour' because I want to be able to give New Zealanders a voice and give them an opportunity to share their stories."
She says her work is about planting seeds of positivity into her audience.
"They hang off our words, our words are our seeds, so we want to come together to unite and to make sure that when we do go back we’re planting the positive and right seeds."
Her tour begins in April.
