Luke Romano has been ruled out of the extended All Blacks squad travelling to Japan after he was injured in Canterbury’s extra-time Mitre 10 Cup final loss to Auckland.

Romano came from the field in the 63rd minute of Canterbury’s 40-33 loss at Eden Park and will not travel to Japan, with the All Blacks to name a replacement later today.

He would have likely faced the Cherry Blossoms this weekend in his first Test in a year after being included in the 19-man squad named to travel to Japan.

The 19 reinforcements will cover the 22 players from the squad that played the Wallabies who will travel to the UK this week to prepare for the England Test.
