Lydia Ko makes solid start before conditions ruin play at LPGA Texas Classic

May 5, 2018

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has gotten off to a solid start on a shortened first day at the LPGA Texas Classic, sitting four shots behind the leader after 14 holes.

Following a breakthrough victory in California earlier this week, Ko kept up her return to form, with a birdie on the fourth hole seeing her at -1 for the front nine.

She then began brightly on the back nine, with a birdie on the 10th, before a bogey on the 12th saw the Kiwi lose ground on the leaders, only to recover with a birdie on the 13th.

A par on the 14th would be Ko's final act of the day, as conditions deteriorated to bring play to a close.

The time lost, coupled with yesterday's rain delay sees the tournament cut to just 36 holes.

Ko trails leader Sung Hyun Park of South Korea by four shots heading into tomorrow's action.
