Lydia Ko misses the cut at US Open after three back-to-back bogeys

Lydia Ko on the 11th hole on round two of the US Women's Open

Golfer Dame Lydia Ko has struck out in the second round of the US Women’s Open in Los Angeles after finishing two over par at 73.

She finished day two of the tournament one shot shy of making the cut, in joint 70th at an overall five-over par for the Open.

Ko started the round well, at one under after the front nine, hitting two birdies on the fifth and eighth holes, and a bogey on the second.

However, she went on to hit consecutive bogeys between the 12th and 14th holes, adding to her three extra shots from round one and leaving her outside of the cut.

Ko’s next opportunity at a major victory will come later this month, at the PGA championship in Minnesota, where there’s a US$12 million prize if she wins.

Alison Lee of the US and China’s Ruoning Yin are tied at four under par for the lead heading into round three tomorrow.
