What the? Roma footballer channels John Hopoate's infamous backside poke during awkward goal celebration

November 2, 2017

An Argentinian footballer has raised eyebrows with fans after his questionable goal celebration was caught on camera in a Champions League match yesterday.

After Stephan El Shaarawy scored his second goal in Roma's 3-0 win over Chelsea, he immediately ran to his teammates to celebrate.

However, once he reached his team, he was greeted in a strange way by Diego Perotti.

The Argentinian midfielder channelled infamous NRL star John Hopoate and appeared to stick his fingers up the Roma forward's backside.

El Shaarawy was visibly startled but seemed to take the surprise poke in good humour.

His first goal in the match was just as surprising after he rocketed the ball home from outside the box just 40 seconds into the match.
