Watch: Proud Tonga supporters flood South Auckland streets in rowdy celebrations after Mate Ma'a's massive opening win

October 30, 2017

Tonga's pride and passion didn't just show on the field during yesterday's dominant 50-4 win over Scotland to kick off their World Cup campaign, as rowdy fans hit the streets in South Auckland to celebrate the impressive result.

Otahuhu was flooded by chants and Tongan flags last night after Mate Ma'a wrapped up their opening match in Cairns comfortably, with supporters sitting out of windows and on bonnets to show their joy - others simply stood in the street waving shirts to show their delight.

Yesterday's game was Tonga's only pool match in Australia, with their next two taking place in Hamilton at Waikato Stadium against Samoa next Saturday and the Kiwis the following weekend.

The team, strengthened significantly by the late additions of NRL superstars Jason Taumalolo and Andrew Fifita, touch down in New Zealand on Tuesday in Auckland.
