Home security footage has captured the moment a large tree fell and split apart on an Auckland property yesterday.
The tree came down on the Papatoetoe home at around 5pm on Tuesday, flattening a car and striking the house with four people – including a three-year-old child – inside.
Fire and Emergency NZ responded with one crew.

It broke into three pieces as it fell. One section landed on the roof of the house on Kolmar Rd, and another crushed a car parked on the property.

Footage captured by 1News at the scene show the tree's roots wrenched out of the lawn, and its trunk and limbs lying across the front of the house.
None of the residents were injured.
