Smoke billows as crews fight fire at Masterton pub

Crews were called to the blaze at around 7.30am.

A fire at a Masterton pub has sent smoke billowing into the sky this morning.

Fire crews were called to Farriers Bar and Eatery on Queen Street after an automatic alarm at around 7.30am.

When crews arrived, the fire was "well involved".

Crews from Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, and specialist trucks from Remutaka and Avalon were sent to battle the blaze. Additional resources were also sent from Wellington.

"Crews remain at the scene and are working to bring the fire under control," a Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said.
