Fire truck rolls while racing to Manawatū blaze, three injured

Two people were injured in Manawatu after a fire truck crash.

Three people have been injured after a fire truck racing to a vegetation fire rolled in Manawatū this afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Mt Biggs Rd in Halcombe at around 12.21pm.

Two people were in moderate conditions, with one taken to Whanganui Hospital and the other to Palmerston North Hospital.

Hato Hone St John said it responded with two ambulances, a rapid response unit and one operations manager.

Fire and Emergency NZ said the truck was responding to a vegetation fire when the crash occurred.

The vegetation fire was also on Mt Biggs Road and was under control by 12.30pm

Crews remained at the scene and cordons were in place.

Fire and Emergency said it would provide support to those involved.
