The new logo for McLaren's racing team has drawn inspiration from the Auckland petrol station owned by Bruce McLaren's parents.
The logo, revealed today, uses a similar typeface to the one that once adorned the Remuera Road service station where the legendary driver built his first winning car.
"Our roots remain firmly planted in our legendary history," the organisation said about its rebrand.
"We’re moving forward with a relentless pursuit of excellence and a determination to challenge convention to drive us further than ever before."
According to Heritage New Zealand, Bruce's father, Les McLaren, bought the premises in 1959. Many of Bruce's cars were serviced at the building, alongside some driven by Australian driver Jack Brabham.
Les and Ruth McLaren ran the business until 1968, retaining ownership until Bruce's death in a test-drive crash in 1970.
The property was most recently used as a school uniform centre and is recognised by Heritage NZ as a category one historic place.
Since Bruce launched McLaren racing in 1963, the team has become a motorsport powerhouse – currently holding the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship.
The team has produced numerous F1 champions, with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and current world champion Lando Norris getting their start at McLaren.
In IndyCar, Kiwi Scott Dixon will join the Arrow McLaren team next season.
