Maama Vaipulu doubled the lead six minutes later as the visitors asserted their dominance.
The Black Ferns had six different try scorers in the first half as they ran out to a 38-14 lead at half-time.
In four previous meetings between the sides, dating back to 1998, Scotland had never scored a try against the Black Ferns.
No.8 Evie Gallagher, who scored a brace in the span of 10 minutes in the first half, will go into the history books as the first.
This was also the most points Scotland had ever scored in this fixture.
After the break, New Zealand kept the Scottish out while scoring three more quick tries of their own.
In the back end of the second half, neither team could score until the Black Ferns capped off the result with a converted try to Alena Saili in the 80th minute.
Fullback Braxton Sorensen-McGee had the kicking duties for most of the match and converted seven of her nine attempts.
The Black Ferns continue the WXV series against England on September 27 in London.
