Two men were arrested after Auckland police flagged a vehicle of interest that was later found to contain drugs, cash, weapons and ammunition.
The 53-year-old driver was found to have outstanding fines of $26,000, and was put into the back of a police vehicle.
During the initial search of the offender's vehicle drug paraphernalia was spotted, leading authorities to deepen the check.
Acting Shift Inspector Ian Scoulding said a variety of dangerous items were then recovered.
"The officer unravelled more than initially thought, after locating $30,000 cash, a one-kilogram silver bar, a taser, a knife, a firearm, and ammunition," he said.
"Three ounces of methamphetamine, one ounce of cocaine, and one ounce of cannabis were also located."
The driver was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis plant, and ecstasy for supply.
A 37-year-old was then taken into custody after he tried to talk with the arrested driver by opening the door to the police vehicle.
He was charged with two counts of resisting police, interference with a motor vehicle and communicating with a prisoner.
The 53-year-old was due to appear in Auckland District Court on Saturday, while the 37-year-old was set to attend on September 10.
